About
Bilberry is a wild forest berry picked by hand in summer. Ripe dark-skinned fruit with juicy flesh quickly stains hands and the tongue. The picking season is short and varies greatly with the weather in a given year.

Bilberries are sweet-tart with a distinct woodland aroma. They are eaten fresh, cooked into jam and preserves, and used in baking, cordials and sauces.

Multi-year starts 2024–2026 cluster in late July. Start 25 July from the south; end 15 September is editorial (the order gives starts only). Leningrad LHR tables and catalog blueberry are not mapped here. No explicit peak: available sources do not justify a narrower window without false precision.

Wild bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), not catalog blueberry. The historical Forest Plan of Tver Oblast (2008) states: bilberry fruits VII–IX. Under guidelines §8 the month range encodes as 1 July–30 September. The same plan lists allowable bilberry harvest volumes by forestry district. Governor decree No. 8-pg (2019, as amended including 2025) confirms the regional Forest Plan remains current and is used only as applicability/corroboration, not as the source of the VII–IX calendar. Peak unset. Neighbor-region dates were not copied.
