About
Blue honeysuckle (*Lonicera caerulea*) is an early garden berry with thin blue-violet skin and juicy flesh. The small elongated berries are among the first soft fruit of the season.
In the kitchen
Blue honeysuckle has a mild sweet-tart flavour with a slight bitterness. It is eaten fresh, cooked into jam and compotes, used in drinks, and added to baking and desserts.

Indicative edible honeysuckle harvest window for Leningrad Oblast: 25 June 2026 names commercial harvest start at the Brod farm (1,150 kg already collected). The 8 July 2022 APK bulletin still includes honeysuckle in the early-berry line (strawberry and honeysuckle, 15 t). By 10 August 2022 honeysuckle appears only inside a mixed residual “cherry, honeysuckle, gooseberry” 1.5 t line — the main campaign is no longer isolated by mid-August. End 15 July conservatively encodes the first half of July without stretching into August. Peak unset.
