About
Slippery jack (*Suillus luteus*) is a bolete with a brown cap and a sticky skin. It is gathered in coniferous woods in late summer and autumn.
In the kitchen
Slippery jacks are fried and stewed, added to soups, and pickled. The sticky skin on the cap is usually peeled before cooking.

Start 1 August and end 30 September encode that window. Fedorov 1990 (S. luteus account, June–October) is corroboration of species identity and a broader envelope only; his June start and October end are not carried into the canonical period. Peak unset.
