The open-field raspberry season falls in mid to late summer. On farms and in gardens, summer cultivars are picked from canes that grew the previous year. Harvest comes in waves and usually lasts several weeks.

In the kitchen
Ripe raspberries are sweet with a light acidity and a clear berry aroma. They are eaten fresh, cooked into jam and preserves, and used in desserts and drinks. The berries are delicate and lose their shape quickly.
