In the kitchen
Ripe strawberries are sweet with a gentle acidity and a pronounced berry aroma. They are eaten fresh, used in baking and desserts, and cooked into jam and compote. Very ripe berries work well in sauces, purées and drinks.

27 June 2026: fresh-berry season starting; about 20 farmers in Prionezhsky, Kondopozhsky, Pryazhinsky, Pitkyarantsky, Lakhdenpokhsky and Pudozhsky districts already selling strawberry. Berries still few because nights remain cold. July fair «Zemlyanichnoye lukoshko» announced without a date. Notes are garden strawberry only; do not reuse for raspberry or wild berries.

Report dated 3 June 2025: strawberry harvest already underway and on sale. Ostrogzhsksadpitomnik planned up to 400 tonnes; chair N. Gaponenko said the crop must be picked in about a month. 2024 frost left about 5% of a normal crop. Not a census of every farm in the oblast.
